COURSE DESCRIPTION – Spanish as a Foreign Language, Academic Year

The annual Spanish as a Foreign Language course is designed for any student of Spanish – independent students or groups – who wants to take part in a linguistic and cultural immersion in the city of Toledo. It is an intensive Spanish course for beginners who will be able to reach a B2 (lower advanced) level of Spanish during the year.

The basic and compulsory program of this course integrates a combined (a) academic program of required Spanish courses and (b) an associated Spanish cultural program. This makes sense from the perspective that we consider our city, Toledo, as our classroom for Spanish. The activities of the cultural program are therefore the support, resource and complement from which we grow and support our academic progress. Students, after enrolling in the course, receive a detailed program with all the information related to the Teaching Plan.

The annual course always takes place from September to July of the following year and has a teaching load of 900 class-hours of Spanish and Spanish Culture classes.

The year-long Spanish Course is divided into two semesters, from September to January and from February to July.

Spanish classes meet mornings from 9 am to 2 pm. In some cases, some classes may be moved to the afternoon. The different subjects are taught in two-hour blocks of classes, of which 110 minutes (one hour and 50 minutes) are devoted to classroom training.

Spanish levels are A1 (Beginner), A2 (Pre-Intermediate), B1 (Intermediate), B2 (Advanced), C1 (Advanced High.)
