COURSE DESCRIPTION – Diploma in Hispanic Studies, Academic Year

The Diploma in Hispanic Studies is a Spanish program conceived for particcipants already fluent in Spanish. It is a long-term program focused on Spanish Literature, History, Art, Geography and Grammar. At the beginning of the course, a placement test will be held in order to determinate the participant’s proficiency in Spanish language. A Spanish level of B2 on the European scale is required (upper intermediate to advanced Spanish).

In the fall semester, participants in the Hispanic Studies Diploma course are free to register for the five Spanish subjects offered, or just for four. Spanish language is always compulsory. In the second semester (spring semester), participants take five Spanish subjects: Spanish Language, Spanish American Literature and Spanish History. Participants then choose two of the optional subjects.

Participants that complete the Diploma in Hispanic Studies Course receive a Diploma upon the successful completion of the course.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Open enrollment, anybody can participate. The Spanish program at the University of Salamanca is open to teens, students, and adults. You do not have to be a college student to enroll in this Spanish program. You do not have to participate in a US university study abroad program to enroll in this Spanish program. Upper intermediate level of Spanish required. Minimum age 17.

ABOUT

Cursos Internacionales of the University of Salamanca offers students the opportunity to study Spanish all-year-round in courses of two, three, four and ten weeks. Spanish language courses are offered at all levels (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Proficiency). Wide variety of subjects. Students can design their course to suit their needs and preferences. Intensive course of Spanish in which, in addition to the Spanish Language class (compulsory), the student can choose one, two or three optional subjects from a wide range of options.

Housing: Students can apply for their accommodation (homestay or university residence) just at the same time as they are registering for their course, or can apply for it later, at least FIFTEEN days before the course starts. Accommodation application must always be made through the online registration application available from our webpage.

Spanish Language and Culture Courses include activities and:

  • Attendance to projections of Spanish films (see schedule).
  • Insurance with medical coverage for illnesses and accidents happened during the course length.
  • Universidad de Salamanca WiFi usage.

  • Two transcripts.
  • Courses with 4 or 5 class hours a day also include:

Visa: You should apply for it at the Spanish Consulate in your country, they may ask you for an acceptance document from the Spanish institution where you want to take your studies.
